Windows 10 No Longer Supported – Here’s What You Should Do
If your computer is still running Windows 10, there’s something important you should know.
What Happened?
On 14 October 2025, Microsoft officially stopped supporting Windows 10.
Quote Microsoft:
Windows 10 has reached the end of support on October 14, 2025. At this point technical assistance, feature updates and security updates is no longer provided.
This means:
- No more free updates that fix security problems
- No more bug fixes
- No more help from Microsoft if something goes wrong
Your computer will still turn on and work like normal. But without these updates, it becomes easier for viruses, scams, and hackers to get in. This is a real risk if you use your computer for online banking, work files, or anything with personal information.
Is It Safe To Run Windows 10?
Yes – but it doesn’t last long. Microsoft offers a short extra coverage period called Extended Security Updates. Think of it as a temporary top-up of protection while you plan your next step.
For home users, this extra coverage ends on 13 October 2026.

If you’re a regular home user, that means the clock is ticking. You have until around October 2026 before your computer is left with no protection at all.

Imagine your neighborhood security patrol suddenly stops making rounds. Your house doesn’t change, same doors, same locks but nobody’s out there watching for trouble anymore, and word gets around fast once people realize no one’s checking.
Can My Computer Run Windows 11?
Not every Windows 10 computer can upgrade to Windows 11. It depends on your computer’s age and specifications. Generally speaking:
- Computers bought in the last 4-5 years often qualify
- Older computers may be missing certain hardware features Windows 11 requires
The easiest way to know for sure is to have it checked. We can quickly tell you whether your computer qualifies, no guesswork needed.
What Should You Do?
Windows 11 upgrade is the best long-term option if your computer is able to run it. Not all older computers can, since Windows 11 needs slightly newer hardware.
This buys you a bit more time, but only until October 2026. It’s a short-term fix, not a real solution.
If your current computer is older and can’t run Windows 11, it might be more worthwhile to get a newer machine instead of trying to patch up an aging one.

How Do I Check If I’m Using Windows 10?

- Press the Windows key on your keyboard, or click the Start button
- Type “About your PC” and press Enter
- Look for “Windows edition” — it will show if you’re on Windows 10 or Windows 11
